Introduction to COMPUTER MUSIC

(Fall 2009)



An introduction to the multiple ways computers, are used in music with emphasis on sound synthesis and composition. Learning how to use the equipment and the software available in the Computer Music Project. of the University of Illinois Experimental Music Studios . Among the topics to be discussed are:

One of the course's goals is to provide students with sufficient programming skills in order to be able to modify the SoundMaker software to suit their own personal needs when working on the FINAL PROJECT, an original composition.

The final grade will be based on two assignments (10% each), two creative assignments (20% each), and a class project (40%).

Final exam: 7:00-10:00 PM, Friday, December 11
