The definition of Globalization (to make global; worldwide in scope) describes the aim of most contemporary art music. This course offers an insight into the field of computer music by giving students the opportunity to work hands-on in a major computer music lab, and shows ways in which the development of technology is facilitating the process of globalization in the arts. Both the positive and the negative impact of globalization will be discussed, keeping in mind that globalization does not have to lead to the loss of originality and creativity or the loss of regional identity.
