FUNDAMENTALS OF MUSIC THEORY

and PRACTICE IV

Fall 1997


The course is a continuation of Music 103 and concentrates on 20th. century music.

There will be four assignments, three quizzes, four listening tests and a comprehensive final examination. The grading system is as follows:

In addition to the graded tests and assignments, the course work also include two creative projects and a number of reading assignments. These will not be graded; however, the quizzes and the final examination will rely on knowledge acquired through readings and creative projects. There will be a "remedial" assignment for students who, at the end of the semester, want to improve their grades.

Nobody will pass this course without completing ALL the required work. Attendance is required. Please schedule your other classes so you will be able to be in the room at 2 pm and not have to leave it before 2:50 pm. Points will be taken off for poor attendance or tardiness. No late assignments will be accepted..

The grading scale is as follows:

Final examination: Friday, December 19, 1997, 1:30 - 4:30 pm.

The final will be comprehensive which means it will include all the topics and all the materials studied and discussed during the entire semester.
